Trumpet
| |
A reedless brass wind instrument that has evolved from a hollowed-out piece of wood. Its basic characteristic is that it has a more-or-less cylindrical bore, unlike the horn, which has a conical bore. However, like the horn, the air in the trumpet is made to vibrate by the player's lips and tongue. Although the modem trumpet is a brass instrument, primitive trumpets were made of wood, bamboo, or clay and were used in all parts of the world. |
